Founded by Returned Peace Corps Volunteer Jonathan Tharin and Q’eqchi’ weaver Concepción Pooc Tharin, Qanachin supports the continuation of traditional Maya weaving, especially picb’il weaving, an ancient style of white gauze weave with white brocaded designs, still practiced by a few women in Alta Verapaz, Guatemala.
